BBC iPlayer Radio app - How do I download programmes?

Firstly, find the programme you'd like to download. You can search for programmes using the Schedule, Stations or Categories menus or by using the Search bar. Once you've found the programme you'd like to download, click on the Download option underneath the playback screen.

The programme will then start to download. Once it's finished downloading, you'll be able to find it in the Downloads section on the BBC iPlayer Radio app.

How do I remove a downloaded programme?

You can remove any downloaded programme by going to the Downloads section on the BBC iPlayer Radio app and selecting Remove next to the programme you want to remove.

How long do I have to listen to the download?

You can download and listen to most BBC iPlayer Radio programmes offline for 30 days after they're broadcast. The app will remove downloaded programmes at the end of the 30-day period, so keep an eye on the expiry date of each programme you download to make sure you don't miss out.

Some programmes are only available for a shorter period or are not available to download at all. This is because we have different rights agreements for different types of programmes e.g. sporting events.

However, any podcasts that you download will not expire. You can find further information about downloading podcasts on our How do I download podcasts on the BBC iPlayer Radio app? FAQ.

We’re still working on features for the BBC Sounds app, including the ability to download radio programmes. We expect downloads to be available later in 2018.
