What functionality will change if I opt out of BBC iPlayer cookies?

BBC iPlayer uses cookies in all browser versions of BBC iPlayer to help provide a personalised experience. If you choose to opt out of BBC iPlayer cookies here are the main features affected:

Favourites

• Will not work if you are not logged in.

• Will work if logged in but recent choices may disappear briefly.

Preferences will not be saved

• Regional choice in the schedules

• Edits to the radio stations listed in Radio section

• Bandwidth choices (eg streaming in low bandwidth)

Parental Guidance Lock

• A parental lock will not be possible and the associated pop-up will appear on every programme that has parental guidance asking the user to confirm that they are over 16 years old.

TV Licence Setting

• We won't be able to save the fact that you've said you have a TV licence, so you'll be asked every time you watch a live stream (eg BBC One).
