Playing Radio programmes

You can listen to BBC Radio using BBC iPlayer through your computer, your mobile phone or your games console.

See the BBC Help site for other ways of listening to BBC Radio, including Internet Radio devices and downloading or subscribing to free podcasts. If you're new computing, you find this BBC Webwise guide to radio on BBC websites useful.

On iPlayer, all of our BBC Radio stations are available to “listen live” and the majority of our programmes are available on demand for seven days after broadcast.

Streaming

When listening live or on demand to BBC Radio you will need to be connected to the internet – this is streaming. Your device will also need to have Flash installed.

We do not currently offer BBC Radio programmes for download via iPlayer Desktop Manager.

Where possible, we offer high-quality audio streams however, we apprieciate that internet connections can be inconsistent at times. If you experience buffering when playing one of our streams, try selecting the lower bandwidth option at the bottom of the console.

Listening to radio

There's two simple ways of picking the radio station or programme you want to listen to.

1)    Go to the Radio homepage on iPlayer

2)    Type the station or programme name into the search box

When you select a station or programme to listen to a pop-out console will open and automatically start playing.

In the console you can also favourite programmes, edit stations and both make and see recommendations.
