Why do I experience choppy playback?

Try switching to the Use lower bandwidth version - this will give you a lower bitrate file which may be suitable if you have a slow internet connection, or if the video and sound are choppy due to your computer's hardware.

If you still experience problems,  check your computer's video acceleration settings. Right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac) in the Click to Play window and select Settings,the first tab shown is for Display.

Remove the tick from the box next to Enable hardware acceleration.

BBC iPlayer Desktop downloads

Your computer's hardware may not be able to handle the quality of our downloads, particularly in full-screen mode.

Macintosh PowerPC (G4) users will not be able to play downloads.

Windows users may prefer to use WMV Windows Media Player files. You can get these files by selecting More downloads and clicking Windows Media Player.
