Why can't I download RealPlayer?

There is a free version of RealPlayer available for Windows, Macintosh and Linux systems.

Click here to visit BBC Webwise for links to download and for step-by-step installation guides.

If the download link for RealPlayer fails to appear, or you see a "page cannot be displayed" error, please check the following:

  • That your internet connection is stable
  • Close any background programs which are running
  • Delete your temporary Internet Explorer files (under Tools, Internet Options, General)
  • Temporarily lower your Internet Explorer security settings (under Tools, Internet Options, Security). Remember to return settings to normal after downloading RealPlayer.
  • Adjust your firewall software to allow access to Real.com.
  • Upgrade your internet browser to the latest version.

Real provides further help about RealPlayer downloading problems. This page has information if you see the error message that reads "Decompression Failed" during installation.
