How do I uninstall BBC iPlayer Desktop?

Instructions are different, depending on your operating system:

Windows Vista and Windows 7

Go to Control Panel
Click on Programs or Programs & Features
Search for BBC iPlayer Desktop and click Change/Remove.

To remove any settings:
Note that you will need to be able to view hidden files. You do this in Windows Explorer by going to Tools > Folder Options and selecting the View tab. Then select Show hidden files and folders.

1. Delete the directory
C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\BBCiPlayerDesktop.61DB7A798358575D6A969CCD73DDBBD723A6DA9D.1

2. Delete the directory
C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Air\ELS\BBCiPlayerDesktop.61DB7A798358575D6A969CCD73DDBBD723A6DA9D.1
To remove any downloaded programmes

Delete the directory C:\Users\[your user name]\Videos\BBC iPlayer

Windows XP

The application can easily be removed from the Control Panel and Add or Remove Programs.
Search for BBC iPlayer Desktop and click Remove.

To remove any settings:
Note that you will need to be able to view hidden files. You do this in Windows Explorer, by selecting Show hidden files and folders.

1. Delete the directory C:\Documents and Settings\[your user name]\Application Data\BBCiPlayerDesktop.61DB7A798358575D6A969CCD73DDBBD723A6DA9D.1

2. Delete the directory C:\Documents and Settings\[your user name]\Application Data\Adobe\AIR\ELS\BBCiPlayerDesktop.61DB7A798358575D6A969CCD73DDBBD723A6DA9D.1
To remove any downloaded programmes
Delete the directory My Documents\My Videos\BBC iPlayer

Mac

To completely uninstall BBC iPlayer Desktop from a Mac, you'll need to remove the application and the folders which BBC iPlayer Desktop created when installed.

If you experience any problems with BBC iPlayer Desktop we recommend that you follow the steps below to completely removed the application and reinstall.

To remove the application:
1 Go to Applications
2. CTRL-Click BBC iPlayer Desktop
3. Select Move to trash

To remove BBC iPlayer Desktop folders:
1. Delete the folder /Users/[your user name]/Library/Preferences/BBCiPlayerDesktop.61DB7A798358575D6A969CCD73DDBBD723A6DA9D.1/
2. Delete the folder /Users/[your user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AIR/ELS/BBCiPlayerDesktop.61DB7A798358575D6A969CCD73DDBBD723A6DA9D.1/
3. Delete the folder /Users/[your user name]/Library/Caches/BBCiPlayerDesktop.61DB7A798358575D6A969CCD73DDBBD723A6DA9D.1

***Please note. If using Lion or above, the Library directory is hidden from the user. One way is, from the finder, hold down option/alt and the library will appear in the drop down list.***

If you followed the steps above, BBC iPlayer Desktop will be uninstalled. You may however still have downloaded programmes files on your computer.

To remove any downloaded programme files:
Delete the folder /Users/[your user name]/Movies/BBC iPlayer
