BBC iPlayer Desktop - Why am I unable to download programmes when using Google Chrome?

We are aware of an issue in that Google Chrome users, when attempting to download a programme are being asked to install BBC iPlayer Desktop even though they already have the application installed.

We have been able to replicate this fault and are in discussion with our service partners to try and resolve this issue.

As an interim measure we recommend that you use another supported browser. Please read:

Some people have suggested that the following workaround detailed on the Adobe site may resolve the issue for some users:
